Roger P. Smith, A.I.A.
owner
Roger P. Smith, Managing Principal
of Burton, Behrendt and Smith (BBS), has been an integral
factor in the changing face of architecture on Long Island
for more than 20 years. Mr. Smith has developed the firm into
the most noted educational architectural and engineering design
firm on Long Island and in the State of New York. His innovative
approach in developing an architecture “of the child”
has bridged the gap between “just providing a roof over
their heads” and the reality that a well-designed environment
will foster the educational growth of the students that interact
with that environment.
Mr. Smith is a Magna Cum
Laude graduate of New York Institute of Technology (1978)
and winner of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Henry
Adams Gold School Medal and Certificate of Merit.
A member of the AIA, Mr.
Smith is NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration
Boards) Certified and licensed in the states of New York and
Virginia. He currently serves as Chairman of the New York
State Building Code Board of Review - Southeast Region and
is a Trustee of the Leeway School, Sayville, NY..
